Are you skeptical? The American astrologer and ufologist Josef Allen Hynek, creator of the Hynek scale to identify the types of UFO sightings (unidentified flying objects), was also at first.
It is that the unknown, the more extraordinary and supernatural is presented, the tendency will be to seek a more or less logical explanation to, perhaps, reassure.Led by the same, Hynek came to reason at close encounters with beings from other worlds as "a matter of postwar nerves ”.
Later with his own experience, he would not only rectify his initial position by stating that it is a “ real phenomenon to face ”, but it would create a classification system that you will know next. The ufologists have adopted it universally!
The Hynek scale, the UFO sighting classification system
Imagine that you are observing the night sky, when suddenly something in the distance, between clouds, it flashes like nothing else you've ever witnessed.Suppose you're not skeptical as Hynek was originally, and because of its characteristics (it doesn't look like a plane, nor does it mean a meteorite...) you suspect it's a UFO sighting.
As far as we go, to share the experience with others, precision will give history a “plus”.So why not use a measurement system as the scale of Hynek? It's simple, even though the terminology is handled between ufologists and connoisseurs of alien experiences.
The Hynek scale was proposed in the book UFO Experience: A scientific study , by Josef Allen Hynek, published in 1972.This work is considered one of the most important legacies in the study of ufology, since Hynek's trajectory documenting these events is relevant. From 1948 to 1962 he worked as a scientific advisor to the U.S.Air Force for the study of the UFO phenomenon, where I document surprising stories that forced him to part with skepticism.
In addition, he founded the UFO Study Center in 1973, with which he continued the mission of registering and investigating UFO sightings, after to publicize the Hynek scale that exposes the following assessments:
- Meeting Close to 1st type: This is undoubtedly the most frequent UFO sightings recorded by man and the most basic on the Hynek Scale. It consists in the observation of foreign objects in the sky, called flying saucers or aircrafts that they seem to be made with non-human technology, at a distance of over 150 meters to rule out that they are commercial vehicles.
- Close encounter of 2nd type: for a UFO sighting to be consider as such, there must be evidence that the unidentified object has landed or left traces of its visit on the earth's surface, such as damage to land, traces of heat or radiation on the ground.Including interference in the reception of hertzian waves radio or television, in accompaniment of a feeling of disorientation of time, can be considered a close encounter of the second type.
- Close encounter of 3rd type: in the basic classification of Hynek's scale, this is the most creepy encounter, but also the most infrequent of all.If you were to observe a ship with spatial characteristics next to the biological entity that the crew, you can say with all property that the encounter you have had is Third type.
Other terms to consider...
- Night lights: UFO reports abound with experiences describing this type of light seen in the night sky. They unfold with an unusual direction or speed, and exhibit red, blue, orange or white colors.
- Daylight Discs: refers to oval metal discs that are sighted in broad daylight and disappear with incredible speed.
- Radar-visual cases: are nothing more than confirmation of reports of UFO phenomena on radar screens.
Other scientists have added other classifications, such as close encounters of the fourth, fifth and sixth type , but The basic Hynek scale is the most accepted.Have you ever experienced one of these encounters for yourself? Will it be possible? Even Alexander the Great saw one.
