At the beginning of the month, the citizens of Beijing could not give credit to what their eyes saw. Among the clouds you could see a supposed floating city , quickly all kinds of theories began to form, but fortunately science could explain what it was.
The mystery of the floating city
Among the clouds of the sky in Beijing, China, were observed Defined forms of what appeared to be a city .Skyscrapers of all sizes, looked like a real city floating in the clouds.
As expected, many people felt some panic about this unknown phenomenon and quickly began to weave all kinds of theories and conspiracies .One of them, is that it was the program of the NASA known as "Blue Beam Project" , which, in theory, would one day simulate an alien invasion of the Earth.Others even showed the possibility of the coming of a messiah and others that it was a sign of the beginning of the end of the world.
Fortunately, none of these theories and/or conspiracies were right, and science has come to the rescue. What caused millions of people to observe that day in Beijing? in the sky a floating city?
The scientific explanation
Apparently, floating cities are actually a strange phenomenon of optical illusion , called Fata Morgana.The same is caused by specific weather conditions that bend the rays of light.
The Fata Morgana is a type of mirage that distorts objects.It is caused when the surface is slightly cold and the sun heats the atmosphere above the earth or the oceans.
Then the air closest to the surface is relatively colder, but the following layers are warmer.So when when the light reaches the border between the two layers that have different temperatures, it bends and generates a completely different angle.
On the other hand, our brain assumes that light always travels in a straight line , so it places objects where it supposed they should be if the light had not doubled.So our brain creates the optical illusion that these objects are much larger than they really are.
The floating cities of China are no more that an interesting and unusual visual phenomenon called Fata Morgana , although many still believe that it is a phenomenon of paranormal indole.
