In many cultures and religions there are trees to which special powers are attributed, but generally the character of these is positive. The Jubokko are terrifying and are an example of vampirism legendary in the plant world.
Don't be scared if in Japan they prevent you against trees and they tell you that don't get too close to them , according to Japanese folklore any tree could be a Jubokko .The legend says that the Jubokko was originally a normal tree, born, grew and developed according to the laws of nature, until a terrible event occurred next to him and made him a bloodthirsty monster.If for some tragic circumstance like a war, a massacre, mass murders, etc., the land where he grew up was soaked in human blood and the tree it absorbed it through its roots, the transformation took place. The tree became a Jubokko , a blood addict, who only from it obtained the sustenance he needed.
Like any tree can be a Jubokko, you have to be prevented, since from a distance its appearance is similar to any other .However, the legend warn that there are distinctive features that can help you distinguish the plant vampire: first, its branches look like arms and claws capable of grasping objects and secondly, At the base of the tree you can notice strange formations that are nothing other than the human remains that have been accumulating.If you see something like that, it is best to run away, it could be a Jubokko and you will be your next victim.
The Jubokko, with his innocent appearance, expects any confident human to pass under his cup and, when close enough, seizes him with his branches These are like long fingers that grab the unsuspecting and lift it to the top of the tree where pierce the victims' skin and suck all the blood from their body .Once exanguinated, they are released and at the base, insects, birds and other types of animals end up with the remains. h They are piled up in the nearby land , but if you are not alert, by the time you see them, you can no longer escape .
The legend says that the Jubokko remains always alive and leafy thanks to human blood and if one of them is cut, instead of sap, drops of blood sprout .The positive part of the story is that if someone manages to cut a branch of Jubokko , this one has healing powers.
