You can believe or not in the UFOs and extraterrestrial life, but the truth is that the news of objects and strange phenomena in the sky are not new and their presence has been documented since ancient times either with drawings, with stories or in paintings.In this selection of religious works of art you can see curious flying objects that we believe obey the imagination of the painters, though, and given the similarity with the descriptions and UFO drawings sighted today, also lead us to question the true nature of these drawings, are UFOs that artists saw and introduced in their paintings or is it just an iconography that responds to the interpretation that painters and artists made of the Bible and other religious texts?

1.“The Annunciation with Saint Emidius”, 1486
This work, entitled "The Annunciation with Saint Emidius", by Ca The Crivelli , was painted in the year 1486 and, following the classic iconography, a beam of light descends from the Virgin Mary from the sky that UFO world enthusiasts have interpreted as a UFO in the form of a disk that falls on Maria to abduct her and implant a child, suggesting that Jesus would not be divine, but extraterrestrial.
2.« Prajnaparamita Sutra », 10th century
But not only do these curious drawings appear in Christian paintings , also the texts of the Vedas appear numerous descriptions of objects called Vimanas , circular or cylindrical ships with holes and topped by a dome.According to the sacred text Ramayana , these ships flew like the wind and emitted a curious sound.The image is from the Tibetan translation of “Prajnapar amita Sutra », text written in Sanskrit.
3.“The Crucifixion of Christ”, of the Visoki Decani Monastery in Kosovo
This work depicts the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, a classic scene of Christian iconography, but in this case with some curious figures: two flying artifacts in which the presence of pilots can be seen, one in each aircraft.
One of the characters appears looking back, as if they were chasing him, and they are dressed in what appear to be space suits.
It was suggested that this kind of aircraft could be a representation of the Sun and the Moon, but according to other theorists, introducing these stars to the scene would have been considered at the time as a kind of blasphemy.
4."The Baptism of Christ", by Aert de Gelde (1710)
This painting shows a disk-shaped object that shines in the sky and from which some descend you make light on the scene of the baptism of Christ.The story tells that Gelde, a great scholar of Rembrandt, had access to the Vatican's private gallery and knew some of its secrets.One of these is supposed to Secrets I capture in this work.A very debated and controversial theory.
This work by Gelde is exhibited in the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, United Kingdom.
5."The miracle of the snow", by Masolino, 1428-1432
This work represents an unusual snowfall in Rome in a warm summer of the fourth century AD While the inhabitants of the city looked at the sky, Jesus and Virgin Mary appear sitting on a cloud and They observe, but curiously, in the sky there are many more clouds, all in the form of mysterious disks.The ufologists suggest that those UFO-shaped clouds are part of the legend of the snow miracle.These abrupt climatic changes associated with UFO sightings they have been documented on other occasions, such as in 1954, the year in which numerous ships were seen flying over the sky of Florence, beginning to fall a spice of snowflakes.
6." The Virgin of San Giovannino ”
This work is classic in the lists of paintings with UFOs.In this painting a flying device appears behind the left shoulder of the Virgin, while a man observes the ship and a dog it seems to bark.The ufologists believe that the Virgin protects her children from this ship surrounded by a dark halo.
Critics point out that it is only a symbol introduced by the author, considering that it could have been the work of Domenico Ghirlandaio and dated the second half of the 15th century.
7." The Glorification of the Eucharist ", by Ventura Salimbeni , 1600
This is another classic in the world of ufology.The work was commissioned by the Church of San Pietro in Montalcino and it shows Jesus and God observing an object with a spherical shape from which several antennas appear to emerge.It has been suggested that this object is similar to Sputnik 1 , the first satellite launched into space, and that it was an image left by the author as a testimony from his trip to the futur o.Art critics think that the sphere refers to the creation of the world, something that ufologists refute to point out that the sphere has a metallic finish.
