Obsessed with being able to preserve the bodies many years beyond death , Dr.Gottfried Knoche became famous thanks to a mysterious liquid with which he mummed lots of corpses, including his own.
Knoche's formula
Gottfried August Knoche was a German medical surgeon who emigrated to Venezuela in 1840.The Doctor built in one of the most famous mountains of the country (El Avila), a small fortress called Bella Vista , in which he dedicated himself to experiment with bodies that nobody claimed from the San Juan de Dios Hospital of La Guaira.
After many experiments I managed to create a new formula to mummify the corpses without having to extract the orga us of them. The aluminum chloride was the basis of this composition; however, the exact ingredients were never discovered.
The legend of Tomas Lander
Don Tomas Lander was a distinguished man of society and founder of the newspaper “ The Venezuelan.”When this honorable man died Dr.Knoche prepared and mummified his corpse.
After finishing the whole mummification, makeup and clothing process, the body of Don Lander He was placed by his relatives at the desk that was at the entrance of his house, the most impressive thing is that there he remained for more than 40 years without presenting any sign of deterioration, then President Antonio Guzman Blanco he demanded that the relatives of the deceased give the mummy a Christian burial.
Mummified family
Dr.Knoche mummified the members of his family and even came to mummify two of his dogs , which I place as guardians at the entrance of the family mausoleum .I also leave everything ready for the moment of his death , leaving nurse Amalie Weismann in charge of preparing her body with the mysterious formula and even leaving a dose ready for the nurse.
Amalie Weismann did not want to be mummified , her wish was for her body to be cremated and her ashes thrown into the sea; However, at the time of his death, Dr.Lesse and Carlos Enrique Reveron did not respect the nurse's last wish, so they prepared and mummified according to the guidelines left alive by Dr.Knoche, after that they closed the doors of the mausoleum and threw the keys to the sea.
Throughout the years and since times as remote as the Egyptians the human being has been obsessed with mummification and with the possibility of preserving the bodies far beyond of death, what do you think of mummification? Would you like to mummify your body?
