Can a human being levitate? From a saint who could not keep his feet on the ground
Our story begins in seventeenth-century Italy, in which a man who has gone down in history as San Jose de Cupertino (1603-1663).This boy grew up in a humble family where I do not stand out for being precisely intelligent, although for his religious devotion .
He had a life difficult because of his permanent distraction and his apparent inability to learn, but he was finally accepted by the Franciscans , and shortly after his life changed, because Jose-who was perhaps Giuseppe-began to suffer something that He modestly called his "dizziness."
What did these "dizziness" consist of? Every time Jose entered in ecstasy due to some moment of religious emotion, he rose through the air, regardless of whether he carried a lamb on his shoulder or a wooden cross. He often avoided that people of all the regions go to see him, and he was even taken before the Pope Urban VIII , and in front of this and other spectators floated through the air, achieving on this flight the conversion to the Catholic of the Protestant Duke of Hannover , who was visiting the pontifice high.

Similar stories, of human beings who manage to levitate, can be found from ancient Egypt to the present day, testimonies of people who have violated what could be the most physical law relentless and consistent: the law of gravity .
Reality or illusion?
The definition of levitation cannot be r more precise: it is the ability of a body to float in space without the support of another body or object and under normal conditions of Earth's gravity. This excludes the action of floating in space, which is actually a slow fall towards the earth.

Levitation is usually one of the most spectacular acts of a magician or illusionist and it is inevitable, when we hear about this act, think of the yogi of the India, floating in a lotus position.
There is a famous case, that of the yogi Subbayah Pullavar , who in 1936 was photographed in India while performing an act of levitation that lasted some nine minutes, between ascent and descent.European spectators assured that there was no trick. This and other similar events, especially in India, have reinforced the role of spirituality in this alteration of the material world .
And here is a constant on this issue: floating in the air is associated with magic or illusion, or with religious thinking, when it is intense or associated with disciplines such as meditation or extreme devotion (ecstasy). Thus it is stated that spiritual energy is superior and can disrupt the laws of physics.
Unbelievers or skeptics, however, they affirm that the principles of universal gravitation cannot be violated, and that the events of levitation are either tricks or illusions produced through collective hypnosis.

Certainly, so far there is no objective evidence that levitation is possible, but also there are cases that have not had satisfactory explanations.
What do you think? Do you think it is possible to levitate?
