The word prophecy has several meanings, but the one that comes to mind when we hear it is that of «a supernatural gift that consists of knowing by inspiration divine the distant or future things «.The best known prophets are those mentioned in the Bible and usually exercise their gift as intermediaries between men and God, but outside the religious sphere there are people who have said they have been endowed with the gift of prophecy and are often known as seers .Among them the best known is Nostradamus, but there have been many others like Ursula Southeil, known as Mother Shipton who made amazing prophecies.Join us to know them!
The prophecies of Mother Shipton
Little is known about the life of Ursula Southeil beyond that she was born in a cave in Knaresborough, Yorkshire in 1488 when in England Henry VIII reigned.Daughter of single mother, she was given up for adoption when she was two years old and at a very young age she began to demonstrate great skills for divination and prophecy. She married a carpenter with the surname Shipton and from there came the name by which she was popularly known: Mother Shipton.
Works with his prophecies were not published until 80 years after his death and, in later reissues, the editors modified to his liking some of his predictions.Despite these facts it is known that during his life I anticipate events that really happened, such as:
-The dissolution of the monasteries in England by King Henry VIII.
-The death of Edward VI, the son of Henry VIII
-The rise to the throne of Elizabeth I and the reign of and Maria I of England nicknamed the bloodthirsty.
-The bubonic plague that hit London in 1665, ending with a fifth of the population.
-The defeat of the Spanish Spanish army as «The invincible army» in 1588.
Mother Shipton, to avoid the action of justice that had already branded her a witch and threatened several times, made her prophecies in the form of verses .Some of them tell us about what I thought would happen in the future and it is easy to see in them current events.
According to the scholars of their prophecies I anticipate the existence of the cars and the Internet : "The carriages will walk without horses and accidents will fill the world with pain.Thoughts will fly around the earth in the blink of an eye."
In these lines see cinema, airplanes and submarines that were invented before the World War II: “When the paintings appear to be lively and freely movable, when ships like fish swim under the sea, when men like birds cross the skies, then half the world bathed in blood will perish.”
I also anticipate how the women of the future would be : "In those amazing and distant days, women will adopt the desire to dress like men, and wear pants and cut their hair and hair."
For the future Mother Shipton we have the triumph of China, the Third World War that began in the Middle East and the coming of extraterrestrials :
“Yellow men will win n the great power of the mighty bear, whom they will help. These tyrants will not succeed in dividing the world in two, but from these acts a great danger will be born. And an intermittent fever will leave many dead.” According to his followers when he talks about Bear refers to Russia and that intermittent fever...could it be bird flu? Of course China is imposing on the whole world.
“Oh, oh, The war will come from where the Turk and the pagan dwells that in fierce rina will engage looking for how to annihilate their lives ». From that conflict the seer believed that war would spread throughout the world. However, the arrival of aliens puts hope at the end of his prophecies: "A silver snake will look and throw men of strange countenance, mixing with the new earth...these strange men will clear the minds of the future man. These will mix and show how to live. And the golden age will begin again." Curious, isn't it?
What do you think of Mother Shipton's prophecies? Have you been impressed? Do not forget that many of them were falsified by their editors. Currently you can visit in Knaresborough, Yorkshire, the cave of Mother Shipton.
